I struggled with this myself, and I am choosing to share my perspective with you so you can do your best to avoid the seemingly invisible void of suffering.
Fear of rejection.
Fear of judgment.
Fear of being “not ready yet.”
These are all just mental rehearsals for pain.
Why do you continue to match the evil cycle of fake mental rehearsals?
Each instance rarely matches reality.
How many times have you worried about a conversation, a business meeting, a lift, social gathering — only to realize it wasn’t that bad?
Most of the suffering was self-authored.
Self. That means you.
So here’s your Conqueror’s protocol — built for real moments:
Nervous before a business meeting?
Write down three possible questions or outcomes — and a calm response for each. Then breathe through your nose for 60 seconds before walking in. You’ve already conquered the “what ifs.”
Anxious to step in the gym after time off?
Don’t plan a full workout. Go for 10 minutes. Walk in, warm up, get a sweat going and go from there. Usually once the blood is flowing you’ll be able to operate much better. Still not feeling it? Have a flow day. When I’m too sore, or in a motivational funk, I move in the ways my body wants me to. Usually includes a lot of calisthenics.
Dreading a social event?
Set a purpose before going. “Tonight, I’ll connect with two people who seem interesting to me.” Forget all the details, you’re there to engage with intention and improve your people skills.
Avoiding a hard conversation with family?
Write the first 1–2 sentences you’d say out loud. Let the thoughts flow. Re-read what you wrote after 10 minutes. Still align with what you wrote down? There you go, that’s what you say.
Dreading making a social media post — thinking people will hate on you?
Post it anyway. Fear lives in immediacy; confidence lives in clarity.
